These words are the most commonly used on the SAT. Vocabulary skills show a consistent correlation with higher test scores and grades in ALL classes. Furthermore, the best way to build vocabulary is through exposure by READING.
Each list is provided with synonyms, antonyms, and sample sentences. There's no need to waste your time looking them up with an online dictionary, but don't take it for granted. Use the time saved to really look through the list and ask questions to clarify. All tests have the same format--two matching sections and 1/3 fill-in-the-blank. Not all vocabulary words on the list will be on the quiz.
Stories are due on Wednesday when you walk in class. They WILL be graded for accuracy and you cannot make corrections. Practice makes perfect.
USUALLY, we will play a quick review game on Kahoots before taking the quiz. :)
As always, you have one week after receiving your score to write out the corrections. Create your own sentence for the incorrect matching, rewrite the fill-in-the-blank sentences with the correct word, and for all of them, include a definition in parenthesis afterwards. You will receive half credit points afterwards. It's always better to study first and have fewer corrections to complete. My favorite rule of thumb is, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
